Index Futures Update: ES, NQ, YM & RTY | Plus Keys to Using Higher Time Frames

📺 Watch the full video here:

The market has been swinging quickly — up, down, and back up again. With Thanksgiving week approaching and volume typically thinning out, it’s a good moment to zoom out and look at the bigger picture across the major index futures.

Because in fast or choppy markets, higher time frames can filter out the noise and help you understand what really matters before the week ahead.

🔍 Highlights

1️⃣ Emini S&P 500 Futures (ESZ25):
ES is still hovering around its October 10 low. Even though that level was briefly violated, we haven’t closed below it. If weakness extends, the next key area is the September 5 week low, which gives more meaningful context on the weekly chart.

2️⃣ E-mini Nasdaq-100 Futures (NQZ25):
NQ has already retraced 25%, which reflects the pressure in big tech names this week. The index often exaggerates moves compared to ES, so this isn’t surprising. The next zone to keep in mind is the 23,500.00 area, where multiple supports cluster.

3️⃣ E-mini Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures (YMZ25):
YM hasn’t broken its October 10 low, showing it’s holding up better than ES and NQ. The Dow generally moves slower, which can make it a steadier vehicle. If it breaks this floor, the next notable level sits near the August 1 week low around 43,800.00.

4️⃣ E-mini Russell 2000 Futures (RTYZ25):
RTY has been under its October 10 low for almost two weeks, but it hasn’t closed under the 25% retracement. Small caps are weakening, but without heavy follow-through. RSI Power Zones are drifting back toward Bull Support, similar to what we saw near the August 1 buying opportunity.

So that’s my take on the major index futures heading into the holiday week — and a reminder that when the market feels chaotic, stepping back to the weekly chart can help you reset your bearings. A single weekly bar often tells a clearer story than a string of noisy daily swings.
