When it comes to college football, my Indiana Hoosiers this season was the story of the year — maybe even the story of a lifetime. And there are a couple of recent events that tie directly into your trading.
First, the awarding of the Heisman Trophy to Fernando Mendoza, Indiana’s current quarterback.
This was speculated earlier in the season. And then as the team progressed — especially after we beat Ohio State — it became almost a done deal.
But when that award was officially announced, it felt like more than just an individual achievement. t felt like a solidifying moment for the identity of the Indiana football team.
Second is that this is the same team that’s about to play in the Rose Bowl — something that hasn’t happened in many, many years. And what it really comes down to is the decisions Indiana had to make about who they were going to be in order to even get here.
A few years ago, somewhere in the administrative offices in Bloomington — whether it was the university president or the athletic director — someone had to make a call.
They had to decide: We’re not just going to be a basketball school anymore.
They chose to invest in football. Not just financially, but in heart and in spirit. They chose to change the identity of the program.
And when Coach Curt Cignetti came in, it was the exact right fit, because he understood how important identity really is. Instead of treating football like an afterthought — something you do if you don’t have better plans — they leaned into it. Fully.
This relates to your trading, here on New Year’s Eve.
This is naturally a time when we look back and we look forward.
So I’ll ask you the same question Indiana had to ask itself:
What is your identity as a trader?
What do you want to leave behind in 2025?
And what do you want to carry forward into 2026?
It doesn’t have to be elaborate or fancy. It can be simple.
Consistency.
Being more open.
Being willing to spend more time and energy on the parts of trading that actually need it.
One of the easiest ways to frame this is with a single sentence:
I am a trader who…
And then you fill in the blank.
It doesn’t need to be long. It doesn’t need to feel heavy. But it’s a statement you can use to start shaping the year ahead — not just what you want to do differently, but who you want to be differently.
And I mean this sincerely: I’d love for you to reply back and tell me what your statement is.
Yes, I’m serious. Hit reply here in your email or browser and send it to me and my team. This kind of action taking matters. It helps you build that vision. And honestly, it helps us cheer you on in a much more meaningful way.
So just like I’ll be cheering on my Indiana Hoosiers at the Rose Bowl, I’m cheering you on in your trading!
I recognize the effort you’ve put in. And I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve — celebrating who you’ve been in 2025, and who you’re continuing to grow into in 2026.
