In my last post, From Hesitant to Hooked: How I use ChatGPT in My Trading Life, I shared how I went from resisting AI⦠to using it multiple times a day.
Not to automate my trades. Not to replace my decision-making.
But to support the way I think, plan, and trade.
So today, I want to show you exactly how I do that β in three very real, very human ways.
If youβve been curious about ChatGPT but werenβt sure where to start, this post is for you.
1. Time Block Your Week In Advance
A couple months ago, I started feeding ChatGPT a basic outline of my weekly schedule:
- My personal AM trading sessions
- My weekend trading journal review time
- Live sessions I do for our Tribe like Monthly Group Coaching or Office Hours
- Family and personal commitments
- Other fixed appointments
Then I have ChatGPT βinterviewβ me by having it ask my questions one at a time (to reduce overwhelm) about what I want to prioritize working on that week. Whether itβs trading related, business, or personal, I train it to keep me to 3-5 priorities max.
Then, the cherry on the top is when I ask ChatGPT to consider my scheduled events along with my prioritized work and suggest time blocks to add to my calendar.
This gives me a great starting plan that I map out and see how it feels. I donβt always follow it exactly, but I no longer have to stare at blank chunks of time on the calendar and plan it from scratch each morning.
This reduces decision fatigue, which is very real!
So if you want to try time blocking using ChatGPT, let it give you a first draft β the hardest part is just getting started.
This helps me stay on top of both my trading and other parts of my life.
2. Get Unstuck In the Moment
There are times when I feel stuck β and I just need to talk it out. But itβs on a topic I donβt feel like sharing with one of my awesome humans right away, I just want to express it to get it out of my brain.
Thatβs when I use ChatGPT as a sounding board.
βHereβs what Iβm thinking aboutβ¦ Hereβs where Iβm stuckβ¦ Can you help me sort through this?β
Sometimes I type it.
Sometimes I use speech-to-text.
Sometimes I open the ChatGPT app on my phone and use voice mode β I happened to pick voice that sounds like a jazz singer because itβs soothing. π
When youβre stuck, ChatGPT can help you think β not just answer.
This doesnβt replace a coach, or a friend, or a journal.
But itβs a starting point.
And it helps me move forward when my thoughts are spinning.
3. Analyzing Simple Trade Results
You donβt need a fancy spreadsheet to get insights from your trades.
Sometimes, Iβll give ChatGPT a basic list of recent trades β
where I entered, where I exited, what the P&L was β It can then give you a variety of statistics that are important to trading.
I can even tell it to summarize βwith no judgment.β
Just the stats.
And then, if I want, Iβll say:
βCan you help me interpret this?β
It wonβt be perfect. But it gives me a lens.
And in the First 40 Trading Club, this kind of reflection is exactly what we focus on once youβve got your first 20β40 test trades logged. Because thatβs what helps to adapt a trading plan most efficiently.
Try What Fits – Skip What Doesnβt
Thereβs no need to master every feature, write perfect βpromptsβ, or have it all figured out when it comes to making AI more useful in your life.
Itβs okay to start simple β to treat ChatGPT like a teammate, a journal, or even just a sounding board when thoughts are stuck.
This isnβt about outsourcing the trading brain.
Itβs about creating more space to actually use it.
In the next post, Iβll share how Iβve used ChatGPT to organize and refine my actual trading plan β and a few places where I donβt use it (and why).
π¨οΈ How do you use ChatGPT β or want to try using it?
Let me know in the comments β even if itβs something small.
You might be surprised what shows up once you start experimenting.
