Several heavyweight names report earnings Thursday, January 15, before the open, and this is a good window to study how RSI Power Zones and momentum behavior can offer an early heads-up on potential market turns.
I pulled the earnings list from Kiplinger and then walked through price, time, and momentum on each chart using weekly and daily perspectives.
🔍 Highlights
1️⃣ BlackRock (BLK):
BLK continues to compress above its December swing low while RSI Power Zones rotate near the neutral 50 area. Recent momentum peaked inside the Bear Resistance Power Zone, which keeps focus on whether price revisits the November range as earnings approach.
2️⃣ Goldman Sachs (GS)
GS is pressing higher on the weekly chart and holding near the Bull Resistance Power Zone. The current swing off the December 17 low suggests additional upside potential, with momentum behavior becoming more important than horizontal resistance at these levels.
3️⃣ Morgan Stanley (MS)
MS has softened over the past week and is moving toward a nearby support area from late December. RSI Power Zones drifting into the mid-range keeps the door open for a tradable low if momentum stabilizes above the Bear Support zone.
4️⃣ Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM)
TSM continues to lead on the weekly timeframe, though RSI Power Zones have yet to exceed their prior peak. A break below the January 8 daily low could open a deeper pullback toward the late-December range, while strength above that level keeps higher price targets in play.
Why Momentum Matters Around Earnings
Price often reacts quickly around earnings, but momentum behavior frequently shifts first. RSI Power Zones help identify when price and momentum are working together, and when they begin to disconnect. That information can be useful whether you trade swing setups, intraday levels, or simply want context for broader market movement.
